Time is on my side, yes it is??

Well, it's been a long time since I took some time to post some thoughts and updates here.  I figured it was definitely time to update this blog.  As you can tell from the title of his entry, time is really moving.  2010 was a year full of a lot of flux.  Both professionally, personally and musically.

A Highlight in 2010 was that I played a few gigs that were fun and memorable. One that sticks out  primarily was when I opened for  DJ/Producer Trinidadian Deep, & veteran DJ/Producer Phil Asher after being called to fill in last minute for a SEED event in Boston, hosted by good friend, DJ/Producer Bradford James.

I've been doing the "LIVE & Direct" webcast since March of last year, and let me tell you, it is a lot of fun, but also requires a lot of time.  I'm glad I am doing it...keeps me on my toes as well as having a good time with fellow DJ & Music enthusiasts.

Once again, however, I am not quite settled in a viable, sustainable employment situation....Hopefully this time, I'll land in the right place with right people.  Its amazing how much my job situation affects my overall mental state and creativity & motivation.  Time to kick myself in the rear!

I've had minimal time in production, some of the tracks I've been working on have been put on hold.  I definitely need to get back on the ball in that regard.  Although even with not as much time at my disposal since the last entry, I've managed to make some progress, and some progress is better than no progress.

I was hoping to make a trip to Miami this year for the 2011 WMC (World Music Conference) but once again, doesn't seem like that I'm in a situation to really go about it.

Well, I'll keep you posted, once again thanks for your support and interest!

Cheers,

Deepstate

Ok, time for an update, damn this year is flying by.  Can't believe its already July.  Time.....wow.

Figured I'd update this.  Been busy, not as productive as I'd ultimately like to be, but c'est la vie. Other things have gone on that are a bit more personal in nature.

So I'm officially experiencing what is called "Gear Lust"

Yes, that's right.

I've been upgrading my mini studio with new hardware and software and I think it will be worth it in the long run, but who knows...

Anways, least I'm enjoying the process (maybe not the credit card bill, but who said this was going to be easy?)

So for you folks curious out there, here's what I've added to my inventory

1)  Apple 21.5 inch iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB SDRAM, 500 GB Hardrive running OS X v. 10.6.4

2)  Roland Gaia SH-01 Synthesizer

3)  MXL 990 & 991 Studio Microphone(s)

4)  Handheld Olympus LS-10 PCM Recorder

5)  Native Intstruments KORE 2 controller

6)  Native Instruments KOMPLETE 6 Studio Bundle

 7)  Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Studio Monitor headphones

Other than that making slow progress on a new track with a really cool person.  Her name is Liza Zayas and she has performed vocals on a few different releases and I am excited to work with her going forward.

Webcast is going well, more viewers are tuning in and I'm enjoying the broadcast although it does require a lot of time....

Other than that I'm once again gainfully employed and am making positive changes in my life.  Looking forward to getting more production work done in the future---time permiting as well as cramming my head with all the new software and hardware I have to learn.

Ps. always looking for artists, vocalists, musicians and other producers to work with.....PLEASE get in touch with me if you want to collab!

That's it for now.

Cheers,

Deepstate

The Journey Continues...

Well, I thought it time to update my Blog....So here goes:

It's been a very productive couple of weeks and feel like things are falling into place with regards to the weekly Broadcast and furthermore, my Production works...while still in a sketch stage, the pieces are coming  together, my ear being more particular, climbing the learning curve, upgrading systems, maintaining systems, purchasing new music, meeting more Artists, cherishing the friends I have.  Ok, was that a run on sentence?

Life is moving fast, whie I don't really think about my age, it does serve as a reminder just as to how precious life is and the paths we all take --to the people we encounter, the good, the bad....the hustle.  Hustle, as in hard work.  I guess Music is the place I want to spend my Life moments  as much as possible in. Must keep on keeping on while facing the challenges of everyday life.

I was very fortunate to have guest DJ Randy Deshaies on tonite's Broadcast and was elated to share great music to and fro.  At the end of the week, this is all worth it.  To Experience is ethereal, Happiness comes....whether "sucess" comes or not.  It's all about the Music...the feeling, the emotion, the Journey of life....reflected through Music.

I thank God, the Source.

I thank my parents who reside in Germany & all my relatives and friends throughout the world,  I owe you all much to who I am as a person....

I hope my vision stays focused, remain Blessed and continue to learn, love and play & create Music....

Currently collaborating with a Vocalist on a track, creating a few newer "sketches" in the work-in-process stage and learning from a Audio Engineer & good friend,  I will keep you posted on these developments, but I am definitely excited!

Thanks to all that support! You keep me motivated!

Its 2:11 AM I think this excerpt is coming to a close.

Hoping  o work & enjoy many more good times with many of you out there!

Peace, Love & Blessings.

Welcome to my world...

Well, I figured more than anything I should start to keep a blog of my exploits with regards to Music, DJ'ing, Broadcasting  and Music Production as well as other thoughts and activities, mostly for my own personal reference, but I am opening up to you the reader as well....

The last couple of months have been productive, I've learned more and more about Music Production and have created my first real "official" track, which is a basic Deep House track entitled "Not Broken".  If you haven't heard it yet, and would like to take a listen, please go here: http://www.djdeepstate.com/discography.htm

Turns out my neighbor David is a real Hip-Hop and Rap enthusiast and he had asked me to work on a track with him.  I gladly obliged.  While his rap took me by surprise (let's just say the lyrics are definitely not G-rated...(insert laugh here.)  I enjoyed working with him and learning more about my Production software suite. I figure Music is about freedom of expression and I wanted the track to reflect his lyrics,  It's a short track 3:06 mins, but i think its a good for my first attempt at producing "Hip-Hop".  I'm debating whether or not to upload it...time will tell.

Ultimately, producing and arranging tracks is what I enjoy doing the most and am looking forward to making more and more tracks as time and resources permit.  I definitely have to become more knowledgeable about Music Production & Music Engineeering as well as Music Theory.  It's a good thing I enjoy the learning process!

In the future, hopefully I'll be able to work with more Musicians, Artists, Vocalist, Composers, etc...

My "Mini-Studio" is up and running, and while it's not a "Major Studio" I think I have a decent set-up at this point, enough to get started.

For those of you "Gearheads" out there, my "Mini-Studio" at this date consists of the following:

Hardware:

Apple iMac 2.13Ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 3 GB DDR 2 SDRAM -- MAC OS X  10.6.3

Apple MacBook 2.2 Ghz, Intel 2 Core Duo, 4 GB DDR 2 SDRAM  -- MAC OS X 10.6.3

Apogee Duet Audio Interface

Two Technics SL-1200MK2's

Pioneer  HDJ-1000 DJ Headphones

M-Audio Radium MIDI Controller

Yamaha MO-6 Music Production Synthesizer

Two M-Audio BX-8's Studiophile Monitors

Pioneer DJM-600 DJ Mixer

WesternDigital My Studio 1 TB External Drive

CAD Performance Microphone

Software:

Apple Logic Pro 9.1.1

Bias Peak Pro 6.2.0

Rane Serato Scratch Live 2.0

Reason 4.0

iTunes 9.1.1

Well, that's enough for now....

It's 4:04 AM and I really, really need to get some sleep.  Spent most of the day in the Mini-studio organizing cables, performing system checks, updating software and setting up default recording & broadcasting settings....welcome to my world!
