Well, I figured more than anything I should start to keep a blog of my exploits with regards to Music, DJ'ing, Broadcasting  and Music Production as well as other thoughts and activities, mostly for my own personal reference, but I am opening up to you the reader as well....

The last couple of months have been productive, I've learned more and more about Music Production and have created my first real "official" track, which is a basic Deep House track entitled "Not Broken".  If you haven't heard it yet, and would like to take a listen, please go here: http://www.djdeepstate.com/discography.htm

Turns out my neighbor David is a real Hip-Hop and Rap enthusiast and he had asked me to work on a track with him.  I gladly obliged.  While his rap took me by surprise (let's just say the lyrics are definitely not G-rated...(insert laugh here.)  I enjoyed working with him and learning more about my Production software suite. I figure music is about freedom of expresiion and I wanted the track to reflect his lyrics,  It's a short track 3:06 mins, but i think its a good for my first attempt producing Hip Hop.  I'm debating whether or not to upload it...time will tell.

Ultimately, producing and arranging tracks is what I enjoy doing the most and am looking forward to making more and more tracks as time and resources permit.  I definitely have to become more knowledgeable about Music Production & Music Engineeering as well as Music Theory.  It's a good thing I enjoy the learning process!

In the future, hopefully I'll be able to work with more Musicians, Artists, Vocalist, Composers, etc...

My "Mini-Studio" is up and running, and while it's not a "Major Studio" I think I have a decent set-up at this point, enough to get started.

For those of you "Gearheads" out there, my "Mini-Studio" at this date consists of the following:

Hardware:

Apple iMac 2.13Ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo, 3 GB DDR 2 SDRAM

Apogee Duet Audio Interface

Two Technics SL-1200MK2's

Pioneer  HDJ-1000 DJ Headphones

M-Audio Radium MIDI Controller

Yamaha MO-6 Music Production Synthesizer

Two M-Audio BX-8's Studiophile Monitors

Pioneer DJM-600 DJ Mixer

WesternDigital My Studio 1 TB External Drive

CAD Performance Microphone

Software:

Apple Logic Pro 9.1.0

Bias Peak Pro 6.2.0

Rane Serato Scratch Live1.9

Reason 4.0

iTunes 9.03

Well, that's enough for now....

It's 4:04 AM and I really, really need to get some sleep.  Spent most of the day in the Mini-studio organizing cables, performing system checks, updating software and setting up default recording & broadcasting settings....welcome to my world!
