In 2008, DJ Deepstate took a break from public performances.
In 2007, he held a weekly Thursday Residency at 28 Degrees, in Boston,
MA USA. There he played from 7:00 pm till 1:00. am. 28 Degrees was
voted "The best lounge in Boston" by Improper Bostonian in 2007.
Favorite among his many residencies has been performing at the erstwhile Limbo Lounge, on Temple Street in Boston. There he played an assortment of records catering to an upscale, swank and trendy crowd of local Bostonians as well as a diverse International Clientele. He has also performed at the Wonder Bar, the Lava Bar, the Milky Way, the Enormous Room, the Point, Hibernia Lounge & Club, The Phoenix Landing, The Druid, Harvard University, Toast Lounge and at Lillies. The private parties he has entertained at have ranged from local house parties to engagement parties, also including several after-hour parties.
His dj-ing style is that of providing a smooth eclectic mix ranging from downtempo, midtempo, & uptempo ambient textures including very jazzy grooves (Bossa Nova, Latin Jazz, Be Bop, Acid Jazz), soothing soulful vocal melodies -- upwards to inspirational diva vocals, world music influenced percussion (latin, afro-cuban, african, etc.) and funk-based disco to club classics and more analogue-electronical driven soundscapes. While he is not opposed to playing top 40, he does play reworked and remixed popular music on occassion. One must note, however, that he firmly believes that there are a plethora of various under-exposed musicians, artists, producers and record labels that the publc should have the opportunity to hear. His mixture of music & sounds are designed to be smooth & flow --- in order to take the listener on a musical journey.
DJ Deepstate, an American citizen born and raised in Germany, became interested in music at an early age and has “been into music”, particularly into what is termed as "underground music”. He started playing the alto saxophone as a young boy and went on to play the sax for his high school band. He greatly loved music that at the time was "cutting edge", such as: Depeche Mode, Front 242, New Order, etc., along with early techno / trance / house and rave music.
Throughout the years as he matured , he came to discover that his real love was embedded in what is known as Deep House Music. In his own words, “deep house music is a combination of music that essentially captures a blend of organic (live instrumentation) and electronic music that is constructed around a danceable beat“.
